why is the reflection of the sunset on the water is extra red ??

Question: why is the reflection of the sunset on the water is extra red ??

Answer: At the sunset, the sun is red because the sun is the furthest distance away from you. Red is the strongest wavelength among the visible eye (625–750 nm)

It helps the sun light to be redder on the water because when the sun light makes reflection on the shallow surface, the water absorbs most of other wavelength, as result the red wavelength becomes more pure, that gives stronger red color.

The sunset will perceive extra red if you wear a polarized sunglasses, because the reflection of light polarized at parallel light to the surface will be more visible.
