     The merocyanines is a close loop chemical reaction caused by absorption of ultraviolet. It is a reversible conversion of color in on organic and inorganic material.      When merocyanines is illuminated by the ultra violet ray or sunlight, it initiates the transformation of a molecule into a different isomer, from a closed ring to an open ring. As the compound is exposed with sun light or ultraviolet light, the isomerization state of the compound form from a locked ring to an open ring, and it becomes a intermediate energetic state (metastable) merocyanine body forms with colors.

 

     Moreover, the merocyanine body restore to its original ring closed body and become transparent when the substance is away from ultraviolet rays or sunlight or heat. The time of restoration of color of closed body may affect the change or delay due to the condition of weather, UV light, and heat.
